Summary:

Methods:

Chart and radiographic review of 12 children (18 limbs) who underwent lateral tension band plating of the proximal tibia for infantile Blount's disease. A lateral distal femoral tension band plate was also used for some patients.

Exclusions:

Results:

89% achieved successful improvement with growth tethering. Failures were imputed to screw breakage and wound infection that required implant removal. Several patients experienced recurrent varus after plate removal which the author attributed to poor growth potential of the medial proximal tibial physis.
